NHSA & Altron Inc. Announce Partnership
Washington DC – June 22nd, 2021 – NHSA and Altron Inc. have partnered to support the redevelopment of Parent Gauge, Head Start’s signature tool for measuring family engagement. Parent Gauge, which launched in 2017, is a research-based assessment tool that collects input and data from parents and guardians about their Head Start experiences. Parent Gauge explores families’ experiences with everything from entry and transition to the knowledge of child development to health and nutrition. The conversations conducted using Parent Gauge enhance the relationships between guardians and staff and bring unparalleled data to programs to guide their engagement efforts.
“By working together thoughtfully and systematically, parents and teachers can bring out the best in one another,” says NHSA Executive Director Yasmina Vinci. “For the past 4 years, Parent Gauge has equipped directors and staff with key inputs needed to set family-centered goals that align with national standards. Altron and NHSA will set a new watermark for data-informed decision making and continuous improvement in family engagement.”

Parent Gauge provides immediate feedback to staff alongside program-level data about effectiveness and areas for improvement. The new platform, set to launch this fall, will improve usability and fast-track quantitative data analysis, and streamline benchmarking.
